How to turn 9 hours of work….
You know, it’s bloody hot down here in Phoenix. The past week we’ve seen temperatures ranging from 108 F - 113 F. My poor garage/shop has hit 125 in the middle of the day. So I’ve been doing most of my work at night. Problem, though. I don’t want to wake anyone up. So I decided to do a leather working video. Since all of the items that I carry everyday either don’t come with a belt case, or they do, but they’re made out of cheap nylon, I decided to make something that would fit my kilt’s belt and my regular belt. The phone case / multi-tool case was a fairly routine piece of work, but I never realized how long it actually took. See, I usually get lost when I’m working on a project. I focus so much on it, that I don’t keep track of time. This time, doing filming while I was working, I had entirely too much evidence (and WAYYYY too much video to edit) that showed how much time I spend on a project. So, while the new video is simply entitled Leather Phone Case, it’s also titled “How to turn 9 hours of work into a 40 minute YouTube Video.” I’m not sure if I’m going to continue making leather videos. There’s a lot to share, but with the, now acknowledged, amount of time that goes into any one project, I’m not sure how much of it will make it to video. The editing alone took me 5 hours of pairing, cutting, dropping and deleting segments. We shall see how things go.
